The Soel Yachts SoelCat 12 is a solar-powered electric catamaran designed for sustainable passenger transport, tours, and eco-friendly water shuttling. Blending solar harvesting with electric propulsion, it offers near-autonomous operation and a quiet, emission-free experience on the water.
With a length of 14.50 m, beam of 5.70 m, and draft of 0.70 m, SoelCat 12 is slender and stable, designed to cut through water efficiently while providing generous deck space. Its twin solar arrays (8.6 kWp) and dual 60 kWh battery banks (120 kWh total) power two 30 kW motors, enabling a comfortable cruising speed of 8 knots. At a lower “break-even” speed of 6 knots, it can operate purely on solar energy.
Every element on SoelCat 12 is optimized for efficient, low-impact operation. The hulls are narrow and energy-efficient, the solar roof is expansive, and systems are matched to minimize waste. Whether used for resort transfers, lagoon tours, or eco-tourism ventures, it combines practical functionality with sustainable innovation.
The SoelCat 12 is a captivating example of simplicity: no fuel, no exhaust, minimal vibration and noise. Even when moored, it can feed excess solar energy back into an AC grid via inverter systems—acting as a floating power station. The boat is customizable in layout, from minimal tourist bench seating to more luxurious outfitting, with roll-down wind screens and sun shades for varied weather.
With capacity for 12 to 20 adults and a displacement of approximately 7 tons, SoelCat 12 is built to carry people efficiently and safely. This makes it ideal for eco-tourism operators, resorts, and shuttle operators seeking zero-emission, low-maintenance water transportation.
