Ollie Danner founded Charged Marine out of a lifelong connection to waterways and a passion for clean energy innovation. He also sees boating and being in nature as a way to bring joy to friends and family, including his sister who has special needs. Having followed the alternative fuel marine industry for many years, he felt the industry needed single platform where consumers and commercial entities can do their research on vessels, energy and related products and services.
Raised in Louisiana on the rivers, lakes, and swamps, his roots run deep with generations of family engaged in recreational and commercial fishing for shrimp, crab, and freshwater species, fostering years of experience on the water from a young age.
After moving to California in the early 80s, he found himself working in the oil service industry. In the mid 90s, began a career in Website Development and Internet Marketing. He was instrumental in the growth of Supergo, one of the largest high-end bicycle retailers and store chains.
Ollie's dedication to alternative fuel technologies continued in the early 2000s through his exposure to the GM EV1 and his involvement with the Electric Auto Association, where he was intrigued by the conversion of combustion engine vehicles to electric power. He was a regular presence at Southern California drag strips, witnessing the performance of early home-built electric vehicles.
By 2012, Ollie moved further into the clean tech sector by collaborating with charging station manufacturers. Over the years, he successfully sold and installed hundreds of Level 2 and DC fast charging (DCFC) stations for both residential and commercial customers, making a tangible impact on electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure deployment.
His continuous interest in the electric marine space eventually catalyzed the launch of Charged Marine, uniting his waterway heritage with his advanced experience in EV technology. He believes the zero and near-zero emission future for marine transport is growing exponentially, driven by advancements in battery chemistry and the emergence of hybrid technologies within the industry. Ollie frequently observes that the electric boating field today is akin to where the electric car market was in 2010—a space on the brink of rapid advancement. And like the passenger and commercial electric vehicle space, electric and hybrid boats may not fit every use case and duty cycle but they can make a positive impact on local environments and reduce operating costs for owners and operators.
Ollie consistently champions the vital role of education, outreach, and cross-sector collaboration in driving adoption through multiple channels, including the Clean Cities Coalition. His proven track record as a "master connector" is echoed by his leadership in organizing alternative fuel events, symposiums and expos.
Charged Marine and its team harness Ollie Danner's expertise, vision, and connections to accelerate the adoption of clean, reliable marine propulsion—empowering both recreational and the commercial boat industry to embrace the next wave of technology, including foiling and autonomy.
