Electric Power Takes Center Stage at the 2025 Sausalito Boat Show
Charged Marine StaffThe future of boating was on full display at the 2025 Sausalito Boat Show, where the electric dock became a hub of innovation and excitement. Guided by Tanguy de Lamott, with Vita Power, visitors were introduced to a lineup of fully electric vessels and technologies that were reshaping both recreational and commercial boating.
The Vita Seal: Electric Performance in Action

One of the standout vessels on the dock was the Vita Seal, a fully electric powerboat equipped with two 63 kWh batteries and a 150-horsepower electric motor. With a range of roughly 90 minutes at 20 knots, the Vita Seal proves ideal for marina patrols, yacht club activities, or short coastal trips.
Axopar AX/E 25 Electric Boat: Speed Met Sustainability

The show also featured the Axopar AX/E 25, powered by a 300-horsepower EVOY outboard system. With twin 63 kWh batteries, this sleek cruiser reaches an exhilarating 57 knots top speed. At a more moderate cruising pace, it delivers performance comparable to the Vita Seal, around 90 minutes of range at 20 knots.
The collaboration between Axopar and EVOY marks an exciting movement towards electrifying recreational craft. As Axopar is already a leading brand in the leisure boating space, the partnership demonstrates how established boatbuilders are embracing electric powertrains to bring sustainable options to the market.
Nautique GS22E: All-Electric Towboats Are Here

In addition to cruising and workboat models, the show also showcased performance for watersports. The Nautique GS22E, presented by Captain Tom of Yachtiva, is an all-electric Towboat powered by a 124 kWh battery. With a runtime of up to three hours and cruising speeds of around 20 knots, it proves that even high-demand activities like wakeboarding can now be enjoyed sustainably on the Bay.
Taiga Jet Skis: Electric Thrills on the Water

Rounding out the lineup was the Taiga Orca P2 jet ski, a two-seater watercraft powered by a 25 kWh battery. Manufactured in Montreal, Taiga designs their own batteries to ensure high performance and rapid response. With speeds reaching up to 45 mph, the Orca delivers all the thrill of a traditional jet ski without emissions.
The company also unveiled a three-seater model at the Monaco Yacht Club in September, further expanding electric options for watersports enthusiasts.
Electric Yacht: Clean Power for Sailboats

Also present at the show is Electric Yacht, a U.S.-based leader in electric propulsion systems for sailboats. The company specializes in inboard electric motor conversions, offering clean, quiet alternatives to traditional diesel engines. Their systems are designed for easy integration into a wide range of sailboats, making them a popular choice among owners who want to reduce emissions while enjoying a more peaceful experience on the water.

A Growing Ecosystem for Electric Boating
What began eight years earlier in the UK has grown into a fast-moving wave of innovation in the United States. Over the past two years, 20 electric boats have been purchased in California, spanning from Fort Bragg to San Diego, with a strong presence in the Bay Area.
Notably, one of the boats showcased is already in use at the Berkeley Marina, demonstrating that these are not just prototypes; they are actively operating in real-world scenarios. Supporting this growth is Aqua Super Power’s expanding network of 75 kW DC fast-charging stations. With hubs already active in Sausalito and Redwood City, and a new installation planned for Berkeley Marina, the Bay Area is rapidly positioning itself as a leading hub for electric boating.
As charging infrastructure expands and industry partnerships accelerate, electric boating is no longer a distant vision but is steering the marine industry into a new era where sustainability, innovation, and performance set the course.
